The Story of your Chicken
Poultry are a necessity to add nutrients back to the depleted soil on this former cotton and tobacco farm. .
We steward them in a large brooder with lots of ventilation, with access to heat lamps (except during those crazy 90 degree days), and when they are large enough not to pass through our electric poultry netting, we open the doors and let them day range. As they grow, we also split them into two overnight shelters. We put them up at night both for warmth and added protection.
A week or so later, we then begin to move them through pasture.
During the day, they enjoy lounging in the sun, pecking around the fallen leaves, and scratching through mulch and grass.
They have access to clean water always and we continuously add fresh mulch and leaves to their overnight pens, then, move the pens and fencing to fresh areas.
With Pockerchicory Farms you will enjoy a well cared for bird.
